Specialized Transportation Service

What are specialized transportation services?
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program provides transportation to medical appointments, for prescription pick up and does grocery shopping for senior citizens in our community who are unable to do it themselves. We serve only seniors 60+ who can not utilize public transportation services due to a mobility problem, conflict in timing of medical appointments and the need for volunteer assistance.

Veterans of any age are also provided transportation to medical appointments through a grant from United Way of Jackson County.

What is the cost for this service?
There is no cost for the service. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteers donate their time to help seniors in our community who need assistance. They are reimbursed for mileage through a special grant from the Region II Area Agency on Aging.

How can I use this service or find out if I qualify?
Just call the RSVP Transportation number to see if you qualify: 517-783-6102.

Do you take referrals?
Referrals from human service agencies, hospitals, doctors, volunteers and individuals are always welcome. We gladly accept donations. For more information, to send a donation or to volunteer, call 517-783-6102.
